Subject	compressor maps - can someone tell me how to read these?

Message	i was looking through the turbonetics site and found these compressor maps. i was wondering if anyone knows how to read them. i know a little bit such as the mass flow of air and teh rpm, but id like to be able to really know what they mean. could someone define all the terms in the chart? surge limit, pressure ratio, those ovals in the chart... here is a T3 super 60 map so we can relate: here are others: [ http://www.turboneticsinc.com/comp_maps/fig5.html ] thanks Jefe
